IMPORTANT : Student Conference

Dear Students and Parents,

In the book of Isaiah God makes a prophecy about a man named Cyrus, this man was named by God 100 years before he was born to be used by God as His instrument for the release of the Israelites from captivity and the removal of Babylon from their dominant reign.  Isaiah writes, “Thus says the Lord to Cyrus His anointed, whom I have taken by the right hand to subdue the nations before him and to loose the loins of the kings; to open doors before him so that the gates will not be shut.” (Isa. 45:1)

The simple truth of this verse is that God is in control and He was the one who would make the clear path for Cyrus to do the work God had called him to do.

Our ministry is committed to seeking the Lord and walking through those open doors with a clear path to do what God has called us to do, to establish people in God’s Word through Precept Inductive Bible Study.  I also believe that as servants of the Lord we are called to be good stewards of all that He has provided as we strive to glorify God in all that we do here.

Since 2008 Precept Ministries and Transform Student Ministries have provided weekend conferences, summer boot camps, VBS programs and our summer internship program.  All with the purpose of ensuring that students and children, the future leaders who will guide and direct the Lord’s church are equipped with a knowledge of how to properly observe, interpret and apply God’s Word to their lives.

In May of 2015, following our Heaven, Hell and Life After Death conference, we sought the Lord in prayer asking for direction on how we can further equip students, parents, and leaders in Inductive Bible study and at that time we determined that postponing our spring conference was the best thing to do so we could wait upon the Lord’s direction.

In April of 2016 we launched our brand new website as well as the announcement of our Set Apart student conference that would be held this November.  Today I am writing to you to inform you that we believe that God has closed the door on the Set Apart Conference. We have prayed diligently for this conference but there is no open door for us to continue to go through.  The registration numbers are extremely low, so much so that in order to be good stewards of the finances God has given us we cancelled our reservation with Muskoka Bible Centre leaving our team to find another location to run the event in the hopes that registration numbers would continue to increase.  Sadly, this has not happened and now I find that our team is moving from walking through open doors to attempting to force them open.

On a personal note I am heartbroken that we have to cancel our conference. For over a decade I have been committed to equipping young people with the skills to study God’s Word.  I am committed to this and I will take the Transform Student Ministry before the Lord asking Him to show me the clear direction on where we go next.  One of our team members will be contacting those of you who have registered to process your refund.  Please stay tuned to and for updates on our student ministry and for information about our VBS and Summer Internship Program in 2017.

    Hi Mark.
I was disappointed that the weekend retreat was cancelled but I completely understand. I unfortunately was not one to register early; it was the end of September around the time you decided to cancel. As you continue to pray about future opportunities for training young people, if you offer another weekend retreat, I would hope greater numbers respond…I’ll be one to do so sooner. 🙂 I would hope to bring 4-6 youth and 2-3 leaders.

God bless you, your family and your ministry…and please forgive any spelling mistakes as I’m typing in the car (while my father is driving!).
